1956 - Automatic set Ericofon

1956 - Automatic set Ericofon

The three telephones in the picture were introduced in 1956 and became a radical rupture with the former opinion of how a telephone was to look like.

The telephone is designed and manufactured by the Swedish company L. M. Ericsson and was named Ericofon. For the first time they succeeded in designing a telephone that consisted of only one part. It was the new plastic materials that made this possible and the whole telephone did not weigh much more than the traditional telephone handset.

The big red button in the middle of the dial has the same function as the cradle on an ordinary telephone.

Through the years the set has been spread throughout the world and even after more than 40 years it still seems modern with its timeless design.
