1930 - Automatic set FL-30, for party lines

In the picture you see a so-called party line set from an automatic rural exchange. In the start of the thirties when the set was introduced, party line subscriptions were widespread at all types of exchange systems. In the late twenties when the first automatic exchanges opened, a wish even to offer party line subscriptions on these exchanges increased to save line plants costs in rural areas.

Notice the dial with the letters "A", "B", "X" and "Y". The subscribers had three-figure telephone numbers. However those subscribers with party line subscriptions had two-figure numbers followed by an "A", "B", "X" or "Y".

The set that is a Danish product, it is manufactured at Telefon Fabrik Automatic in Copenhagen.

In a similar version was the most used set at the demi-automatic exchanges in Copenhagen for almost 48 years.
