1929 - Automatic wall set

The telephone in the picture is from 1929 and was used by Jydsk Telefon-Aktieselskab.
In the twenties considerations was made in Århus to modernise the telephone exchanges in Jutland and in November 1929 they opened an automatic exchange in Risskov near Århus. It was the first automatic exchange in the area of Jydsk Telefon.
However, the automatic exchange only allowed you to dial other subscribers at your own exchange. If you needed to reach subscribers at other exchanges, you had to dial 0, and be connected to Århus exchange, where operators would answer you and make the call manually for you.
Made in Horsens, Denmark by Kristian Kirks Telefonfabrikker.
