1927 - Demi-Automatic set model D-08

1927 - Demi-Automatic set model D-08

Now we have come to the first dial telephone.

In the twenties Copenhagen Telephone Company Ltd. (KTAS) realised that due to increasing number of subscribers and calls it was necessary to modernise the telephone system in Copenhagen. The solution was the so-called demi-automatic system that was characterised by the fact that in stead of asking for the name of the exchange you want, you simply dialled the two first letters in the name, for example "NO" for NORA and "VE" for VESTER.

Notice that originally the dial was not a part of this telephone - rebuilding of older phones was the order of the day.

This model was introduced in 1908, the dial was fitted on from 1927 and the last telephone of this model was taken out of service in 1978, when the last demi-automatic exchanges ØBRO and TRIA were closed.

The set is Danish and manufactured at Telefon Fabrik Automatic in Copenhagen.
