Optical telegraphs had their biggest expansion in Denmark during the Napoleonic Wars. From Skagen in the North to Kiel in the South; from Schleswig in the West to Christiansø in the East. In 1814, when the war had ended, all optical telegraphs were demolished and sold off at auctions, apart from the three along the Great Belt.
