Private
Telegrams
Private individuals could also send telegrams via the Korsør-Nyborg optical telegraph. Most private telegrams were to do with booking accommodation or carriages
on the other side of the Belt. But personal messages were also telegraphed,
though mainly between people who lived in Nyborg and Korsør. For those
who lived further afield the messages had to go via the mail coach in any case
so they might just as well be sent across by boat.
